Cincinnati Bengals defensive lineman Renell Wren needed a cart to leave the field at training camp practice on Monday after an injury to his right leg.
The Athletic’s Jay Morrison provided the details: “They’re looking at Wren’s lower right leg. He’s on cart. Lots on players patting him on shoulder before he rides off.”
Wren is a big part of what the Bengals want to do inside defensively this year after the losses of Ryan Glasgow and Josh Tupou. While the team signed Mike Daniels in free agency, Wren figured to get some notable rotational work behind Geno Atkins and D.J. Reader.
We’ll have to wait to see the extent of the severity here. In the past, the Bengals have often used the cart as a precautionary measure. If Wren has to miss notable time, the Bengals could be looking at dipping into free agency again.
