The Arizona Cardinals are expected to be an exciting team in 2020. Kyler Murray builds upon his Rookie of the Year season and could see a big jump in production like many quarterbacks have in their second year over the last few seasons.
Many analysts believe they will contend for the playoffs and the team believes it will be competitive.
However, they are still the longest shot to win the NFC West. They are one of the longest shots to make it to or win the Super Bowl.
Despite the offseason buzz, bettors are not buying into the cautious optimism.
According to Pete Watt from Oddschecker, only “8% of all wagers have backed them to win the NFC West – the least of all four teams.”
The other teams fairly even, as 35% of the wagers are on the 49ers, 31% are for the Seahawks and 26% are for the Rams. Even the Rams have more than three times the wagers than the Cardinals.
The wagers on the Cardinals to win the NFC are much lower, as they have only 3.34% of the wagers. Only 1.1% back them to win the Super Bowl and only four teams have received less backing.
So there is optimism, but not enough for bettors to back them.
While the Cardinals as a team have long odds, perhaps they can find solace in this.
According to Watt, “One prop in particular that will taste very sweet for Arizona fans is that, although the 49ers are being tipped to taste more success as a team, Kyler Murray’s odds of winning regular season MVP are shorter than those of Jimmy Garropolo.”
