Praise continues to pour in for a revamped New England Patriots coaching staff. Linebacker John Simon sang the praises of new outside linebackers coach Steve Belichick on Friday.
For his part, Simon has proven to be dependable with the Patriots. Since being signed by New England in 2018, Simon has recorded 61 tackles and six sacks in 27 games, 15 of which he has started. In addition, he also recorded an interception last season.
Now, he figures to be a veteran on a linebacker unit that is undergoing a bit of an overhaul. So far, he likes what he sees from Belichick, who spent his first four seasons as a coach with the safeties.
John Simon on new OLB coach Steve Belichick: “Steve is a very intelligent guy. He knew the whole defense last year even though he was with the back end (safeties). Steve’s been awesome. Knows a lot about the game. Really giving us the ins and outs to try to build our game up.” pic.twitter.com/UxDQdFM3cR

It will be interesting to see exactly how Belichick leaves his stamp on the unit. If he’s anything like his father, the linebackers will be well-prepared and ready to go every Sunday.
