Matchups between the two this season

The Thunder and Clippers have had two very close games and one big Los Angeles win this year.

On Nov. 18, Paul George his a go-ahead 3 with 25 seconds left and then Oklahoma City failed to make two shots on their final possession. On Dec. 22, the Thunder outscored the Clippers by nine in the final quarter to win 118-112.

In the third game, the Clippers led almost the entire way and won by 15.

Dennis Schroder is averaging about 21 points over those three games and Steven Adams has dominated the boards, grabbing 10 in two games and 17 in the win.

Thunder’s season

The ceiling of Los Angeles is still unclear, as they’ve enacted injury maintenance to protect Kawhi Leonard’s reported degenerative tendinopathy and give similar precaution to Paul George.

The two have missed a substantial number of games, but the Clippers pulled off the second seed in the Western Conference.

Los Angeles has two of the three finalists for Sixth Man of the Year in Montrezl Harrell and Lou Williams, who are up against Schroder. Those are two pieces of the deep Clippers roster that can run 11 or 12 men deep when needed.

However, Harrell, Patrick Beverley, and Landry Shamet will be out, according to SI Now’s Garrett Chorpenning. As it’s the Clippers final game, it would be unsurprising to see stars get extra rest, too.

Chris Paul and Lu Dort are out for the Thunder.
