CINCINNATI — In his second game back from injury, Cincinnati Reds’ center fielder Nick Senzel was held hitless and stranded five teammates on base.
Senzel, a former Farragut High School star and University Tennessee standout, went 0-for-3 in the Reds’ 5-4 loss to the Kansas City Royals Wednesday night.
Senzel, who had batted in the leadoff spot in his last two outings, returned to the sixth slot and the heart of the Reds’ lineup Wednesday. He scored, had one hit, a stolen base and scored the winning run for Cincinnati Tuesday in its 10-inning 6-5 victory over the Royals.
He missed games on Saturday and Sunday after exiting Friday’s game in Milwaukee with groin stiffness on Friday.
Senzel a former No. 2 draft pick for the Reds in 2016, is batting .211 this season.
