Chiefs players show excitement on Twitter ahead of season opener next month

One month to go until the season opener and Chiefs players are elated.

Football is near, friends.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans are scheduled to open the NFL season on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 7:20 p.m. CT. In case you’re not near a calendar, that date is one month from this evening. We’re that close to the Chiefs defending their title as Super Bowl champions, in hopes of achieving a repeat victory by seasons end. Everyone will be gunning for Kansas City in hopes of dethroning the champions and it all starts with the Texans in Week 1.

Several Chiefs players took to Twitter to share their excitement about opening the season and getting back to football. Take a look:

Patrick Mahomes is ready to get out on the field and play some ball against Houston. He shared a photo from the coin toss in the AFC Wild Card game against the Texans last year.

Mitchell Schwartz can’t wait to get back at it. He shared a photo of him going up against Texans pass rusher Charles Omenihu. This appears to be from the regular-season game against Houston in 2019.

Finally, Khalen Saunders seems to be stepping up his focus on the upcoming season with a month to go. He shared a photo of him looking quite serious in what appears to be the Week 10 away game against the Tennessee Titans.

With one month to go until the season opener, these guys are dialed in and focused on making this season one of the best yet. It’s exciting to see the anticipation building among the player. It’ll be even more exciting to see that energy released on the field in September.
