Prediction

Nationals 6, Mets 3

Moneyline (ML)

The defending champ NATIONALS (-129) limp into this one with a sub-.500 record, but getting back to division play should do them some good. Washington is 6-1 in their past seven against National League East opponents, and they’re also 4-1 in the past five as a road favorite and 8-2 in their past 10 on the road against left-handed starting pitchers. The Mets (+115) have won just three times in the past 10, and they’re also 3-7 in the past 10 inside the division.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The NATIONALS (-1.5, +120) are a great value at this price level, even though in recent seasons they have struggled a bit with the Mets (+1.5, -143). Even so, their last success came Tuesday in a 5-3 win over Matz and the Mets, and each of their four wins this season have been by two or more runs. As such, Washington is worth a small-unit play at -1.5.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 8.5 (-110) is the lean, although go very, very lightly. The over has connected in five of the past six away from home for the Nats, while the over is 7-3-1 in the previous 11 meetings in this series. The over is also 5-1 in the past six battles at Citi Field between these division rivals.
