There might not be a more dynamic running back to come out of Oklahoma than one of the more recent backs.
Joe Mixon’s ability to catch the football out of the backfield was about as impressive as his ability to make guys miss and explode for huge chunks of yardage. In only two years, he solidified himself up with Quentin Griffin and DeMarco Murray as one of the most dynamic running backs in school history.
In the NFL, his production may surpass that notion, and the Cincinnati Bengals are taking notice.
“Joe (Mixon) is an important part of our team,” said Bengals’ director of player personnel Duke Tobin. “He’s a piece that we’d like to get extended and have around here a long time. Typically, our extensions have gotten done during camp at some point.”
Mixon is one of the few running backs in the NFL to rush for over 1,000 yards in back-to-back. The Bengals selected him in the second round of the 2017 NFL draft.
According to another report from the Cincinnati Enquirer, “Mixon hopes to receive an extension that places him amongst the top eight highest-paid running backs in the league, which puts him north of $8 million a year.”
