Former LSU redshirt freshman quarterback Peter Parrish announced his transfer to the University of Memphis on Thursday.
The ex-Tigers signal-caller was suspended from the team during the off-season, and entered the transfer portal earlier this week. Parrish did not participate in any of LSU’s spring practices this off-season.
The decision from Parrish to transfer leaves LSU with three distinct top-notch quarterbacks for the 2020 season.
While Myles Brennan will be the starter, the backup role is now up for grabs between freshmen Max Johnson and T.J. Finley.

Parrish would have competed for the backup position going into the season for LSU. Now, he will likely not gain a waiver to become immediately eligible at Memphis. In that case, he’ll have to sit for one season before competing for the starting role in 2021.
The former four-star quarterback committed to LSU over Arizona State, Florida, Cincinnati and others as a member of the Tigers’ 2019 signing class. He took the redshirt last season after being the third-string quarterback behind Joe Burrow and Brennan.
Coming out of Central High School in Alabama, Parrish led his team to a state championship during his senior season.
He ranked as the No. 11 dual-threat quarterback in the class of 2019, and was the No.11 player in the entire state of Alabama.

LSU extended an offer to Parrish after he put forth a strong performance at camp two years ago. Soon after his offer, Parrish committed to Ed Orgeron and the Tigers.
It will be interesting to see how Parrish performs for Memphis starting in 2021 following his departure from LSU.
