Amway Preseason Coaches Poll Released: Where’s LSU?

How will the Tigers finish out the 2020 season?

The LSU Tigers just finished out a historical season, going undefeated and capping it all off with a national championship victory over Clemson.

As LSU looks to continue itself, the team faces plenty of challenges in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic after losing 14 players to the 2020 NFL Draft and a host of coaches and assistants following the title game win.

For now, there is a season to be played and the Tigers have a chance to prove their returning talent can be a force to be reckoned with.

LSU will start the season ranked No. 5, behind the Georgia Bulldogs, according to the Amway Preseason Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Auburn (11) and Texas A&M (13) ranked outside of the 10 teams at the top of the list.

Much of LSU’s success is going to hinge on how well the team’s stable of rushers can fill the void of former Tigers running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, how well quarterback Myles Brennan can step up to the plate after the departure of Joe Burrow and how strong the defense is under new coordinator Bo Pelini.

It will be interesting to see how things shake out for LSU, but it’s not reasonable to expect the Tigers to reach the same magical mark they did last season.
