Today was the final day that NFL players had a chance to opt out of the 2020 season. And while the Raiders did not have any more players decide to do so, they did put two players on the reserve/COVID-19 list, according to the NFL’s transaction wire.
Those two players include running back Rod Smith and defensive end Maxx Crosby.

It’s important to remember that just because a player was added to the COVID list, doesn’t necessarily mean they have tested positive. Instead, players can be put on the reserve list if they have come into contact with anyone who could have had the virus.
In order for a player to be removed from the reserve/COVID list, they must test negative twice and they can’t return to the field or facility until that happens.
Luckily for the Raiders, there is still more than a month left until the NFL season which gives both players plenty of time to pass the protocols and get back to work. But until then, they will be quarantined and monitored over the next several days. We will continue to monitor and update the status of both players when more information becomes available.
