No other Rams opt out of 2020 season as deadline passes

Chandler Brewer is the only Rams player who has opted out of the 2020 season.

More than 60 NFL players opted out of the 2020 season, but only one of them is a member of the Los Angeles Rams. According to the NFL’s official transactions wire, Chandler Brewer was the only Rams player to opt out before Thursday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline.

The Rams were among the 12 teams with one or fewer players to opt out of the season due to COVID-19 concerns. The Patriots had the most, as eight players in New England will sit out the 2020 campaign.

This is good news for the Rams, but players will still have the option to sit out the season under two conditions. They are as follows, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

The Rams currently only have one player on the reserve/COVID-19 list, too. Rookie Terrell Lewis was placed on it last week and has yet to be activated. Defensive lineman Michael Hoecht was also added to the reserve list but was activated a few days later.

The Rams have already begun trimming their roster from 90 players, but they’ll have to be at 80 or fewer by Aug. 16.
