No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson played nearly perfect on Thursday but the effort was not enough as the New Orleans Pelicans lost 140-125 to the Sacramento Kings.

Williamson shot 10-of-12 from the field, tallying 24 points, two rebounds and two assists in 22 minutes of work. Williamson made his first eight shots of the game in the paint before missing an alley-oop attempt at the rim from Lonzo Ball.

The Pelicans trailed for most of the game after the Kings scored 49 points in the first quarter, the most in franchise history. Still, the Pelicans shot 57.3% from the field but were unable to slow down the Kings in the second half to pull out the win.

Overall, Williamson looked good on the court and moved well throughout the contest as he continues to get his conditioning up. He again played in 5-6 minute bursts and made two different appearances in the third quarter and likely would have played more had the game been closer.

New Orleans has now lost three of four games played at the Wide World of Sports Complex following the defeat on Thursday. The Pelicans could have claimed ninth place with a win and a loss by the Portland Trail Blazers but dropped to a game and a half games behind them now.

The Pelicans play next on Friday vs. the Washington Wizards.
