UFC targets Brian Kelleher vs. Ricky Simon for Sept. 5 event

Brian Kelleher vs. Ricky Simon is in the works for September 5.

The UFC’s Sept. 5 card is fastly approaching, and the lineup is filling up.

A bantamweight matchup between [autotag]Brian Kelleher[/autotag] and [autotag]Ricky Simon[/autotag] is the latest fight being targeted for the event. No location is official for the card, though the UFC has a pending application to hold the event at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

A person with knowledge of the situation recently informed MMA Junkie of the targeted booking but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

MMA Fighting was the first to report the news Tuesday.

Kelleher (21-11 MMA, 5-4 UFC) will look to rebound from a June 6 unanimous decision loss to Cody Stamann. Kelleher competed three weeks prior, defeating Hunter Azure by knockout.

In his most recent outing on May 13, Simon (16-3 MMA, 4-2) rebounded from back-to-back losses. After a back-and-forth affair against Ray Borg, Simon was awarded the unanimous decision nod.
