Clyde Edwards-Helaire had a major role in LSU’s run to the national championship in 2019. The junior led the Tigers in rushing with 1,414 yards and 16 touchdowns.
After a historic season, Edwards-Helaire bypassed his final season in Baton Rouge and entered the 2020 NFL Draft.
Fortunately for Edwards-Helaire, he was drafted as the final pick of the first round to the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
Initially, Edwards-Helaire was expected to play behind Super Bowl hero Damien Williams. However, Edwards-Helaire’s fate changed drastically this week when Williams opted out of the 2020 season due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Suddenly, Edwards-Helaire finds himself in a featured role in the NFL’s best offense.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire now has a clear path to a workhorse role as a runner and receiver in the most explosive offense in the NFL.
A reminder: he is the only player in SEC history to have 1,000+ rushing yards and 50+ catches in a single season.

Edwards-Helaire is a terrific running back, but what makes him even more dangerous is his ability as a receiver out of the backfield. Kansas City head coach Andy Reid has long favored versatile backs.
The 5-foot-7 Edwards-Helaire was already going to be a popular stash pick for fantasy owners. Now, fantasy owners should be prepared to use a first-round pick if they want Edwards-Helaire.
