As Forbes unveiled their list of the 50 most valuable sports franchises in the world, the Indianapolis Colts came in at No. 35 while being valued at $2.65 billion.
According to the list, the Colts are the 19th-most valuable franchise in the NFL. The Dallas Cowboys led the way in terms of all sports teams coming in at $5.5 billion. The New York Yankees led all MLB teams at $5 billion while coming in as the second-most valuable franchise. The New York Knicks led all NBA teams at $4.6 billion.
Robert Irsay became the owner of the Colts in 1972 with the franchise now being led by his son, Jim, who has held the ownership role since 1997.
Forbes lists the initial purchase of the Colts at $14 million, but the value of the franchise has grown exponentially since then and will likely continue to do after the pandemic slows down.
