Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow said plenty of interesting things Friday while meeting with the media after officially inking his deal with the Bengals.
Besides some of the usual banter for a rookie meeting media for the first time (officially as a member of the team, that is), Burrow dropped some interesting lines about his financial situation.
Burrow noted he’s not going to spend a penny of his contract he just signed, instead opting to let it “accrue in my bank account”.
It’s wild to consider, given that Burrow just inked a four-year deal worth $36.2 million and the team agreed to pay him 100 percent of his signing bonus up front — meaning he’s going to get a lump deposit of $23.9 million in his account.
Back near the draft, word slipped out that Burrow had big endorsement deals with Lowe’s, Bose NERF and Fanatics.
Call it a smart play by Burrow, who bought a house in Cincinnati recently next to teammate Sam Hubbard. While Burrow didn’t say what he’d officially do with his first purchase after signing, fellow rookie Tee Higgins wasn’t too shy sharing what he’d do with his.
