New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore is a man of few words. But when he talks — even when he’s brief — his words speak volumes.
So it should come as no surprise that his interview for NFL Network’s Top 100 list, compiled through player voting, produced a fantastic soundbite. During the interview, he was asked who would be No. 1 among the NFL’s best 100 players?
“I would pick myself,” he said with a chuckle in the video below.
Classic.
Gilmore landed at No. 9, the highest for a cornerback this year. Gilmore had a remarkable season, with a particularly remarkable shutdown performance of Amari Cooper, who finished his matchup with the Patriots with zero catches. In fact, Gilmore had more receptions in that game, with one interception on a target for Cooper.
Quiet guy, loud game.
At No. 9, @BumpNrunGilm0re is the top-ranked CB on this year's #NFLTop100 & the third-ever Patriot to crack the list's Top 10.

It’s hard to argue that a cornerback — and not a quarterback — is the best player in the NFL, if only because signal-callers carry so much weight in the outcome of the game. But if there was a defensive player who could make the case, it would be Gilmore, the defending defensive player of the year.
