The top-ranked quarterback in the 2021 class wants to enroll early.
Oklahoma commit Caleb Williams, a consensus five-star who won the Elite 11 MVP, wrote in his blog he’s working on getting to Oklahoma as fast as possible. By dual-enrolling, he could be on campus as soon as January of 2021.
“With this whole virus, us potentially not going back to school, I might be in Norman earlier than an early enrollee, but on my own accord,” Williams wrote in his SI blog. “Not a part of the team yet or anything like that, but getting used to being there, meeting my new teammates, meeting with the coaches, learning the playbook, getting familiar with where I’m going to be for the next three to four years.”
Williams is attempting to accelerate the process with intercession courses.
“I’m taking this academic, summer school class,” he wrote. “I’ve been focusing on that. I’m taking this class to kinda get ahead. We don’t know what’s gonna go down with school and with football.”
Oklahoma last five-star recruit, Spencer Rattler, was unable to enroll early, but the benefits are visible for most players.
Oklahoma is currently slated to kick off their season on Aug. 28 versus Missouri State. Should the Big 12 follow most of the other Power 5 conference in conference-only play, that game will be canceled.
