Recent reports had wide receiver Henry Ruggs III agreeing to terms on his rookie deal with the Raiders. Now the deal is official. The team’s top pick at 12 overall has signed his rookie deal worth $16.67 million over four years with a 5th year option. The deal comes with a $9.7 million signing bonus.
The speedy playmaker appeared in 41 games with 27 starts over the past three seasons at Alabama. He compiled 98 receptions for 1,716 yards and 24 touchdowns, and another on a rush.
As a junior in 2019, he recorded 40 receptions for 746 yards and tallied seven touchdown receptions, with 27 of his 40 receptions going for either a first down or touchdown. His average of 18.6 yards per reception during his final season ranked first on the team and placed him 24th nationally.
Ruggs III finished his Crimson Tide career third in school history in touchdown receptions, while his 17.5 yards per reception ranks sixth in program annals.
He is expected to add the missing deep threat component to the Raiders offense and immediately step in as the team’s number one receiver.
Ruggs becomes the fifth rookie the team has officially signed today. Just two draft picks remain — third round RB Lynn Bowden Jr and fourth round G John Simpson.
