If you look at the running back depth chart of the Pittsburgh Steelers, you see a lot of nice players. But there is no standout among them. All four of the team’s top backs bring a little something different to the table but none of them would be what you’d consider a franchise running back.

But our friends over at Draft Wire want to fix that for the Steelers. In their latest 2021 one-round mock draft, they have Pittsburgh drafting Clemson running back Travis Etienne with the No. 21 overall pick.

Etienne really is a special back. He’s just as comfortable grinding out yards and moving the chains as he is breaking off long touchdowns. His vision is truly elite and you pair that with surprising power and his dynamic athleticism you understand how he is the perfect combination of all the backs on the Steelers roster now.

Depending on how free agency and the salary cap play out, the Steelers could have more pressing needs but in this scenario, it’s hard to argue any other player taken after Etienne would help the Steelers more.
