Brett Brown reacts to few Joel Embiid, Al Horford minutes vs. Grizzlies

Philadelphia 76ers coach Brett Brown reacts to the minutes with Joel Embiid and Al Horford as a pairing.

The Philadelphia 76ers are making some big changes to their rotation as Shake Milton is moving into the starting lineup and Al Horford is being moved to the bench. That means that the team is not satisfied with the Horford and Joel Embiid pairing and they want to go in a different direction.

However, that does not mean that the two of them won’t be paired together at some point. In Friday’s scrimmage win over the Memphis Grizzlies, Embiid and Horford played together for just a few minutes at the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second quarter.

Those few minutes together is what should be expected from those two as a pairing moving forward.

“I think it’s got its best chance to be seen in those periods,” said coach Brett Brown. “Like I still think that those two guys, I still believe in it. There’s some games that I didn’t, talking about the Clippers game. The hi-low interaction during that time seems to be the best flow to find those two.”

Embiid scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds and Horford had five points and five rebounds in the win. The Embiid and Horford pairing will be interesting to watch as the season resumes in Orlando. The Sixers won’t completely scrap that plan, but it’s something that won’t be seen as often.

“I just felt like everybody did something quite well,” Brown continued. “The Joel and Al thing, that period of the game is fair to talk about.”

Philadelphia will take on the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday at noon EST to continue their scrimmage schedule. [lawrence-related id=35388,35364,35357]
