On its segment called Believe It Or Not, Good Morning Football discussed how the Vikings might be underrated when it comes to being NFC contenders.
Despite his sentiment towards the Vikings being generally good, analyst Peter Schrager had this to say about Minnesota:
“I think it’s fair to say they’re being overlooked right now as we head into August,” Schrager said on Good Morning Football. “I will say this, it’s a very different looking defense this year. They lost a lot of key players that they’ve had in year’s past. Linval Joseph was a solid cog up front. … A lot of new defensive faces and of course Stefon Diggs not being there is a major negative for me as well.”
Schrager added that we’re going to have to see how Justin Jefferson and the young cornerbacks play to get a sense of the team.
Maurice Jones-Drew thinks it’s going to come down to a key point of the Vikings offense: Dalvin Cook.
“Yeah, we can say they’re contenders, but if you don’t have your guy that can run the ball and do what he did in New Orleans, right?” Jones-Drew said. “One of the reasons they were able to win that game is because Dalvin Cook was running like a mad man. The reason they lost to the Niners was because the Niners shut Dalvin Cook down. If he’s not there, that’s a problem.”
