HBO is thinking outside the box with this year’s edition of “Hard Knocks,” and not because training camp could look very different due to the coronavirus. HBO chose to highlight two teams this offseason, selecting both the Rams and Chargers to star on the hit series.
With training camps expected to get underway next week, the first “Hard Knocks” trailer was released on Tuesday. It features highlights from each team’s camp last year, as well as joint practices between the Rams and Chargers from the last two seasons.
It remains to be seen whether there will be a preseason or not, but all signs point toward “Hard Knocks” still pushing forward as originally planned.
This will be the second time the Rams have appeared on the show in the last four years, also being chosen for it in 2016 when they first moved to Los Angeles.
It made sense for HBO to feature both the Rams and the Chargers this year because of their rebrands, the opening of SoFi Stadium and the vast array of storylines surrounding each team.
“Hard Knocks” premieres on Aug. 11 at 10 p.m. ET on HBO.
