Boston Celtics rookie Tacko Fall said Monday that it feels great to be back playing basketball again in Orlando ahead of the season restart at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Of course, Fall played four seasons at UCF, averaging 10.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.4 blocks in 115 career games with the Knights. He was the 2017 AAC Defensive Player of the Year and nearly helped the Knights upset the Duke Blue Devils last year in the NCAA Tournament.

Prior to his time with UCF, Fall met his host family in Tavares, roughly 45 minutes north of Orlando, after bouncing around a few cities in the United States. He eventually landed at Liberty Christian Prep when his life finally began to be stable again.

Needless to say, Fall is excited to be back in his adopted hometown, despite the unusual circumstances.

It has been very weird. I was just talking to my host family not too long ago and they are upset because they are right down the road and they can’t even come to see me. It’s going to be a time when they will be able to see me soon. I’m just looking forward to seeing all of them, it feels great to be back in Orlando even though I can’t go to UCF or see my host family or my friends.

Just being back here brings a lot of memories: I went to high school here, I went to college here, I pretty much grew up here. It has been great. I’m just looking forward to when they can come to see me or if we can get out for me to go to UCF and maybe see the coaches and some of the staff.

Fall, who is signed to a two-way contract, spent the majority of the season in the G League with the Maine Red Claws. He was named to the 2019-20 NBA G League All-Defensive Team after averaging 12.9 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.9 blocks in 29 games played.

Fall played sparingly with the Celtics this season, logging just six appearances, but was included on the Celtics’ roster ahead of the season restart. He called it a blessing to be with the team in Orlando and is trying to learn as much as possible around his teammates.

The Celtics kick off the season restart July 31 vs. the Milwaukee Bucks.
