Seahawks fans who were crossing their fingers Seattle would sign maligned wide receiver Antonio Brown may have had their long-shot hopes dashed. Out of the blue on Monday afternoon, Antonio Brown announced his retirement from the NFL on Twitter…
…again.
Of course, spontaneously announcing retirement on social media is not new for Antonio Brown. On September 22nd of 2019, Brown retired following his release from the New England Patriots two days prior.
This was the ultimate conclusion to his incredibly tumultuous 2019 season, where he actually threatened retiring over not being able to wear a helmet he wanted while still a member of the Oakland Raiders.

This is simply the latest chapter in the ongoing saga for the embattled receiver. Once considered the premier pass-catcher in the league, Brown has left fans wondering once again if he will ever see a football field.
At this point, it truly is fair to wonder if his career is actually finished. Brown says it is, but this comes after a period where there was limited interest. The Seahawks were considering it at some point, and quarterback Russell Wilson has lobbied for the addition of Brown in the past, but it doesn’t seem it will come to fruition.
Brown also is facing a potential suspension from the league due to legal troubles involving a sexual misconduct lawsuit and dropped battery charges.
Once again, Brown’s unpredictability is on display and another reminder why, even if he wasn’t retired, the Seahawks should steer clear.
