The NFL season seems right around the corner. When the Dallas Cowboys eventually line up to play, they will have one of the top rated offensive lines in the league. It’s a deep and talented group and some of the best training camp batted should be along the offensive line.
Veteran interior lineman Adam Redmond will be among those fighting for a job. Redmond is in his fifth-year after playing his college football at Harvard, earning All-Ivy League honors in 2015.
Although Redmond has played primarily at guard in the NFL, he has experience at both center and guard positions. The versatility is something the Cowboys really like in their offensive lineman and Redmond fits the bill.
Redmond came into the league as an undrafted free agent singed by the Indianapolis Colts in 2016. He was cut and added to the practice squad in both 2016 and 2017, before finally getting his shot in September of 2017. He appeared in four regular season games with the Colts before they released him.
The Buffalo Bills were the next stop for Redmond, but he never appeared in a game with the team.
Just before the 2018 season, the Cowboys scooped up Redmond and he appeared in 10 games in a reserve role for Dallas. He never saw game action in 2019 and a back injury led to his year ending on injured-reserve in November.
Redmond was brought back by the Cowboys in March on a one-year deal.
It looks like a tough road for Redmond to make Dallas’ roster, but he’ll be in competition to earn a spot on the interior of the teams’ rotation. The Cowboys don’t currently have a starting center of left guard set in stone and Redmond could make his mark at either spot.
When Travis Frederick retired, the starting center gig became available and even though Connor Williams was named the starter at LG the last two seasons, his name is far from etched in pen in 2020. There’s a new offensive coaching staff and line coach Joe Philbin should be giving everyone a look.

There are at least four names for two starting positions on the Cowboys’ offensive line. The center and LG jobs are up for grabs and the front runners are Tyler Biadasz, Connor McGovern, Joe Looney and Williams. Redmond is hoping to make his case as well.
Whoever doesn’t win a spot in the starting lineup will make excellent back-ups and create depth for the Cowboys. That’s where Redmond will likely earn his place on the roster, as a versatile substitute capable of playing more than one position.
Redmond’s shown enough grit and fight to not only make it to the NFL coming out of an Ivy League school, but also to stick around. It wouldn’t be wise to count him out just yet.
