Nobody in the Cincinnati Bengals organization wants to see A.J. Green leave the team after he plays 2020 on the franchise tag.
That includes star defensive end Carlos Dunlap, who took to social media to campaign for an incentive-laden extension for Green.
The Bengals and Green understandably couldn’t reach a long-term agreement on an extension before last Wednesday’s deadline — But one of the biggest takeaways from the whole ordeal was Green making it clear he still wants to retire as a member of the team.
Any Green extension is probably going to need plenty of incentives based on the veteran’s injury history over recent years. But it seems everyone is in agreement they’d like him to stick around and help the development of Joe Burrow.
If the Bengals for some reason don’t make Dunlap’s wishes happen, they’d suffer another Andrew Whitworth situation and get minimal back in the form of compensatory picks thanks to an obscure rule.
#18 deserves deal make it incentive based to prove himself. If you don’t trust your guy 🤷🏾♂️. Sounds like win win https://t.co/FomlAeFSqj
