It appears that after several questions about him, Markieff Morris will join the Lakers shortly at the Disney World campus, where the NBA is attempting their season restart.
Kyle Goon of the Southern California News Group reported in the late afternoon of Wednesday that Morris’ absence is not COVID-19 related and rather an excused absence from the team, indicating that he will join the team in the next few days.
Markieff Morris has an excused absence from the Lakers at the moment but is expected to join them soon for the restart at Disney, according to a source.

It’s a good thing for the Lakers that Morris will be available for them soon. They’ve already had to deal with an adjustment to their roster after the Avery Bradley opt-out and they lost another key player over the weekend, with Rajon Rondo suffering a broken thumb that will require surgery outside of the NBA bubble.
Morris isn’t likely to be counted on for big minutes, but he brought some much-needed forward depth to the Lakers and he will likely be counted on to spend some time guarding Kawhi Leonard or Paul George, in a potential series against his brother Marcus and the Los Angeles Clippers.
