Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro dealt with a nagging ankle injury prior to the season shut down on March 11 but the rookie said Wednesday that he is fully healthy again.
Herro missed 15 games this season due to an ankle injury and returned to play just before the season was suspended. Herro credited the time away from basketball for being able to fully recover and said he may not have been fully healthy had it not been for the hiatus.
I’m definitely 100% now. … The pandemic and the time off really was able to allow myself to get back to 100% but I feel the best that I’ve ever felt in my life. My body is 5.5% so I’m excited to be started.
Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra has said that it will be a process to integrate Herro back into the lineup since he missed so much time. The team has been without rookie Kendrick Nunn so Herro could fill in for his teammate. Nunn and Bam Adebayo have been excused from practice, as Spoelstra said.
The eight seeding games prior to the postseason will be crucial for all teams to get back into game shape. For the Heat, getting Herro back into game speed will be key and to reconfigure the rotation ahead of the start of the playoffs.
The Heat kick off the season restart Aug. 1 vs. the Denver Nuggets.
