The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms on an extension with star defensive tackle Chris Jones, who was set to be their franchise tag player for the 2020 season. He’ll stay in Kansas City on a four-year deal worth up to $85 million, keeping him with the team through the 2023 season.
As the news made its way around the airwaves regarding his extension, several of Jones’ teammates took to Twitter to show their excitement for their teammate. It all began with recently-extended QB Patrick Mahomes, who expressed the desire to keep this team together in his own contract negotiations with the team. Well, Mahomes got his wish and he sure is excited to see Jones stay in Kansas City.

Many believed that, after signing Mahomes to a record-breaking extension, the Chiefs wouldn’t be able to extend Jones. It seems that Mahomes knew the plan all along was to get Jones under contract.
And yall thought we couldn’t… 😂😂😂 nvm #RunItBack

Then came one of the young defensive tackles in Kansas City, Khalen Saunders, who learned a lot from Jones last season when he had to fill in for him during the regular season.

We’ll keep you updated here as other Chiefs players continue to congratulate Jones on his new deal. The only people who aren’t happy about this deal are the offensive linemen and quarterbacks who he’ll regularly face around the league.
