Bleacher Report names Raiders RT Trent Brown as team’s most overpaid player

Somehow, Pro Bowl right tackle Trent Brown has someone become the Raiders’ most underrated and overrated player on the roster.

On Saturday, a list of 50 NFL executives and coaches named Brown as the ninth-best offensive tackle in the NFL. And then, Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report named Brown as the team’s most overpaid player entering the upcoming season. Take a look at Gagnon’s thoughts on Brown entering the season:

Brown was somehow a Pro Bowler in 2019, but he missed five games and struggled as a run-blocker at right tackle. He’s a decent pass-blocker with tantalizing size at 6’8″, 380 pounds, but he turned one decent year with tremendous support in New England into the second-richest right tackle contract in NFL history.

To be fair, Gagnon said the Raiders don’t really have a bad contract on their roster and even Brown’s contract isn’t all that bad. But whenever a player is the highest-paid player at their respective positions, an All-Pro level of play is expected.

As long as Brown can stay healthy in 2020, he will quickly remind everyone why he received such a big contract last offseason. Look for Brown to dominate in Year 2 with the Raiders this season.
