MADISON- Thursday night, Wisconsin AD Barry Alvarez released a statement about the Big Ten’s decision to have only in conference games. In the statement, Alvarez had several announcements.
The first was that the highly anticipated game against Notre Dame at Lambeau Field this season would be canceled. The game against Northwestern will be moved from the original location of Wrigley Field elsewhere as well. The Wisconsin AD also confirmed that Camp Randall will not be full this season.
Alvarez finished with affirming his commitment to making sports happen in a safe matter for the fall.
The cancellation of the matchup against Notre Dame is a bit of a disappointment, but it appears that the Big Ten and Wisconsin are planning to have sports this season for now. This announcement alleviated a lot of the uncertainty about the upcoming season, but this plan will depend on the Big Ten’s monitoring and assessments of COVID-19 in the upcoming months.
