Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is reported to be making baseball money on his new contract extension, totaling roughly $400 million dollars over 10 years.
That’s a lot of money that Mahomes could spend on ketchup, but it’ll come with plenty of salt packets for Pat Mahomes Sr., who formerly played baseball professionally. Mahomes’ father played for a number of MLB teams from 1992-2003, including the Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox and New York Mets. During the course of his career, he earned slightly less than $3 million. That’s basically what Mahomes earned during his rookie year with the Chiefs.
Now, with Mahomes’ new contract over the next decade, he could eventually wind up earning close to $3 million on a weekly basis as the quarterback for the Chiefs during the course of an NFL season. That means Mahomes will make in a week what his dad made during his entire professional baseball career, hence the salt.
