Oklahoma’s secondary just got much, much better.
The Sooners landed four-star, top-100 overall recruit and cornerback Latrell McCutchin on Saturday. He was originally committed to Alabama before de-committing from the Crimson Tide while on an unofficial visit to Oklahoma in March.
The buzz about McCutchin came to fruition and gave Alex Grinch his third four-star defensive back from the state of Texas in his first two recruiting classes. This one, though, may be the best of the trio between Joshua Eaton, Bryson Washington and McCutchin.
Here is what Oklahoma is getting in its latest commitment.

The hardest part of this evaluation is that there is no junior film to work off of due to a torn ACL McCutchin suffered early in his junior season. However, in his sophomore tape, there are two things that stand out that most at that age do not have. McCutchin can high-point the football extremely well for a corner and create pass break-ups by playing the ball. It’s clear he has a natural feel for it. Add that to his length, fluid hips and that McCutchin is clearly a guy that is going to grow into his body, the rest is on him and Oklahoma’s coaching staff on developing him into an All-American type player. His ability to open his hips up and run and the things mentioned above fit perfectly into Oklahoma’s defensive scheme that wants its best corner to be able to be on an island.
