The Washington Redskins could finally be moving toward a name change, after stadium sponsor FedEx put pressure on owner Daniel Snyder to reverse his stance that the controversial nickname would “never” change by requesting “the team in Washington” change the name.
The following day, the Redskins announced that the team is initiating a review process and will be receiving input from “alumni, the organization, sponsors, the National Football League and the local community.”
The debate over the team name has been raging for years, and football fans have already come up with several solid rebrand options, from Warriors to Generals.
One of the betting favorites, though, has to be Washington Redtails, which would pay homage to the brave Tuskegee Airmen who served in World War II and flew aircraft with tails that were painted red for identification. Current Redskins quarterback Dwayne Haskins, for one, is a fan of the name.
I like the redtails 🤔 https://t.co/DLSWsUcldp

Haskins later clarified that he likes Redtails “if we have to change the name.”
