CBS Sports recently ranked the NFL’s top eight rivalries of the 2000s and our beloved Steelers show up not once but twice.
It’s no surprise that the Steelers clashes with the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens come in at eight and two.
Pittsburgh was owned by New England for much of the aughts until the Steelers finally snapped the Patriots 21-game win streak in Ben Roethlisberger’s rookie season.
I’d venture to say that the Steelers-Pats rivalry died right along with Tom Brady being traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The rivalry with the Ravens seemed to have lost a little bit of fire when Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Troy Polamalu and Hines Ward retired. But the Steelers division foes still rile up a physical battle (at least) twice a year.
