Well, two out of three ain’t bad.
Like it had in the 2020 recruiting cycle, when Michigan procured three commitments from one powerhouse high school, it had hoped to do the same in 2021.
Last year, it was Baltimore (MD) St. Frances Academy, where the Wolverines managed to pull two four-stars in RB Blake Corum and LB Osman Savage, as well as three-star LB Nikhai Hill-Green. In 2016, it also happened, with Devin Bush, Josh Metellus and Devin Gil all becoming Wolverines after playing at Flanagan High School outside of Miami.
It looked promising that history could repeat itself in 2021, as the maize and blue already had two players pledged from Fort Lauderdale (FL) St. Thomas Aquinas, in three-star CB Ja’Den McBurrows and four-star LB Jaydon Hood. With Michigan being in four-star defensive end Dallas Turner’s top five, it seemed possible that it could, again, be a trio playing in a winged helmet after all working together at the high school level.

However, it wasn’t meant to be, as the standout DE chose to join Alabama and the Crimson Tide, he announced on CBS Sports HQ on Wednesday.

Given the competition — Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma and Florida — it was going to be a tough pull for the maize and blue, regardless.
At the moment, anyway, Michigan has four defensive ends committed in the 2021 class in four-stars Quintin Somerville and Kechaun Bennett as well as three-stars T.J. Guy and Dominick Giudice.
