There is no bigger decision coming for Oklahoma football in the recruiting world than that of the Sooners top target in all of the 2021 recruiting class.
Five-star and No. 1 overall quarterback on Rivals, Caleb Williams, set his commitment date for July 4. The longtime Oklahoma target has talked about his relationship with Lincoln Riley, heavy interest in the Sooners and recruiting some of the top players in the country in his blogs with Sports Illustrated. In his commitment announcement post, Williams said this:
“July 4 is the date and I’m very excited. I can’t wait. I’ve got a lot planned coming up in this next month. Three weeks and five days, now. A lot planned, ready to go. Ready to do it.”
Williams released a new blog on Monday and at the end, he left another vague, but ever so intriguing note at the end of the blog.
“Fireworks coming, soon.”
Who knows what that actually means with the cryptic tweets and other buzz with top prospects like five-star offensive guard Bryce Foster, five-star offensive tackle Tristan Leigh and five-star wide receiver Emeka Egbuka.
Williams commitment date is just 12 days out. Oklahoma last landed a five-star and No. 1 quarterback in the 2019 recruiting class with presumed 2020 starting quarterback Spencer Rattler.
