The Raiders are entering the third year of Jon Gruden’s rebuild and the team appears to be inching towards a playoff appearance. But would a playoff appearance in 2020 be enough for the season to be considered a success?
In a recent article by Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report, he wrote about what each team in the NFL would need to do to have a “successful” season. For the Raiders, that means making the playoffs. Take a look at Gagnon’s thoughts on the Raiders entering the year:
The (Raiders) been building up the roster and should be positioned to take a step forward with Henry Ruggs III, Cory Littleton and Nick Kwiatkoski joining the team this offseason.
After Las Vegas bolstered its win total from four in 2018 to seven, the expectation has to be that it’ll win nine or 10 games and reach the postseason.
It doesn’t appear the Raiders are quite ready to challenge the likes of the Chiefs or Ravens in the AFC, but they are certainly capable of making the playoffs. And as we saw last season with the Titans, once you are in the tournament, anything can happen.
If the Raiders are able to win 9-10 games this season despite their incredibly difficult schedule, it would be hard not to view this season as a success. Not only should that be considered a success for the Raiders, but this should be the expectation entering the year.
