The opening preliminary fight at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Volkov ended under strange circumstances, after a UFC rookie on his debut Max Rohskopf quit after his corner refused to throw in the towel at his request.
Rohskopf was being soundly beaten by opponent Austin Hubbard over the first two rounds of the bout, and while sitting on his stool before the third round began, Rohskopf repeatedly told coach Robert Drysdale to call the fight. Drysdale tried to pump up Rohskopf, telling him he’s a champion who still had a chance in the fight, but Rohskopf was certain he didn’t want to fight another round. When it was time to start the next round, Rohskopf remained on his stool, and told the official that he couldn’t fight.

Drysdale: No, we got this Max.
Rohskopf: I don’t have it.
Drysdale: You’re a champion. Stop it.
Rohskopf: I don’t have it.
Drysdale: Stop it. You’re a [expletive] champion.
The official stepped in to check with Rohskopf, and eventually stopped the fight.
