Texans QB Deshaun Watson is an explosive fantasy football option

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson had one of the best fantasy football performances in 2019, and he could have more in 2020.

Quarterback Deshaun Watson made his fantasy managers happy when he torched the Atlanta Falcons defense for five touchdowns and 426 yards in Week 5 last season.

The Houston Texans’ field general posted a perfect passer of 158.3 in the 53-32 win. In fantasy football, Watson turned in 41.7 points, the second-highest points produced by a quarterback in fantasy in 2019.

What also makes Watson an intriguing fantasy option is his ability to make impact plays on the ground. The next week against the Kansas City Chiefs, Watson threw just one touchdown, but he managed to rush for two more in the 31-24 Week 6 victory at Arrowhead Stadium.

But it isn’t just his ability to run and throw. As Week 13’s 28-22 win over the New England Patriots proved, he can catch a touchdown pass, too. The two-time Pro Bowler’s athleticism on the field gives him the versatility to generate fantasy points.

In 2020, second-year offensive coordinator Tim Kelly is building a diverse set of skill positions around Watson, and that will only give him more opportunities to generate points.
