Charles Jourdain was about to be mad if judges robbed Andre Fili at UFC on ESPN 10

What does this say about the state of judging in MMA?

[autotag]Andre Fili[/autotag] and [autotag]Charles Jourdain[/autotag] had a nice scrap at UFC on ESPN 10, and after three rounds it was clear who won: It was Fili.

And that turned out to be the case, but … by split decision?

That was the result Saturday night at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, despite Fili clearly controlling Rounds 2 and 3 with his takedowns (not to mention landing more significant strikes in each round). Fili earned two scores of 29-28, while Jourdain was awarded a 29-28 by one judge.

The 29-28 score favoring Jourdain was announced first by octagon announcer Joe Martinez, and even Jourdain’s reaction was one of shock. “Are you kidding me?” is what you can see Jourdain mouthing as that first score was read.

It really says something about the state of judging in MMA that the loser of a fight knows he didn’t deserve one score in his favor but still got one anyway, doesn’t it?

As for Fili, he had to sweat out yet another close decision and couldn’t believe it.

“I was begging God: Let me (expletive) win,” Fili said. “I don’t understand. I don’t understand.”

Neither does anybody else.
