Even though the NBA season coming back and resuming in Orlando in late July and the Philadelphia 76ers will get their chance at chasing a championship, it is still worth looking ahead to the offseason. Sixers Wire is going to continue highlighting some players that could help Philadelphia in the offseason in their limited price range.
The Sixers are in need of some backup point guard help, some shooting, and they need a quality backup big man off the bench. Kyle O’Quinn is a great veteran to have in the locker room for morale, but in terms of performance on the floor, Philadelphia could use an upgrade.
JaMychal Green
Green is a nice option to have off the bench. He is a guy who can do the dirty work inside, he is an underrated defender, and he can step outside and shoot the 3-ball at a decent 36.3% clip. While he could just pick up his $5 million player option with the Los Angeles Clippers, there is a possibility that he will seek greener pastures elsewhere.
The Sixers as mentioned before do not have much in the way of resources for free agency–about $6 million. The biggest thing they can offer is the fact that they are, in fact, contenders, and getting through the Eastern Conference may be a bit easier than getting through the gauntlet that is the Western Conference.
Green can be a guy who can step in right away and be in the rotation. He is more than capable defender and he is a guy who can knock down a few jump shots on offense. His energy can infectious at times and that can be what this team needs on some occasions. [lawrence-related id=32972,32965,32959]
