The entire starting rotation for Oklahoma has been decimated by the 2020 MLB Draft.

The Washington Nationals took ace Cade Cavalli with the 22nd pick on Wednesday night. The St. Louis Cardinals took Saturday starter Levi Prater with the 93rd pick earlier Thursday night.

Then the Oakland Athletics took Sunday starter Dane Acker with the 127th pick in the fourth-round of the 2020 MLB Draft.

The Brenham, Texas, native spent one season at Rice before transferring to San Jacinto College for his sophomore season. His time at Oklahoma was short spent, but he did provide a life’s worth of memories. Acker toed the rubber against powerhouse LSU on a Sunday inside Minute Maid Park in Houston, throwing a complete game no-hitter.

He made four starts in his short stint at Oklahoma, boasting a 3.51 ERA and striking out 28 hitters in 25.2 innings.

The Sooners will turn to Wyatt Olds and now sophomore left-hander Jake Bennent to lead the rotation in 2021.
