KNOXVILLE – The 2020 Major League Baseball Draft opened Wednesday with the first-round.
University of Tennessee junior left-handed pitcher Garrett Crochet was selected No. 11 overall in the first-round by the Chicago White Sox.

Crochet is the first first-rounder of Tony Vitello’s tenure as head coach at Tennessee. Crochet is also the third first-round pitcher in the Vols’ program history, joining Luke Hochevar (2006, No. 1 pick) and R.A. Dickey (1996, No. 18).
Crochet becomes the second-highest drafted pitcher in Tennessee program history.
The 6-foot-6, 218-pound left-handed pitcher is from Ocean Springs High School in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
