Tedy Bruschi always seems to be excited about the New England Patriots, but he is even more excited for this upcoming season.
On Monday, he told Dan Roche of WBZ-TV that New England’s predicted change to a defensive-oriented style is what excites him the most. Bruschi tied the defensive focus to Tom Brady leaving as well as who the Patriots drafted on defense. With Brady gone and the Patriots having to scale their offense back a bit, defense may be the name of the game for New England.
Bruschi is keeping his eye on a few of the draft picks, who also happens to be linebackers:
“The shift with Tom being gone now is trying to make this a defense-dominated team,” Bruschi said. “They’ll tell you what they feel by what they do. So drafting those great young linebackers, I was excited to see that.” impact.
“I can’t wait to watch (Josh) Uche play, he’s a great young player,” Bruschi said. “Defense is going to have the lead the way and I think Bill knows that. I’m excited to watch them.”
New England drafted Uche in the second round along with outside linebacker Anfernee Jennings in the third round and inside linebacker Cassh Maluia in the sixth round.
With the Patriots shifting their organizational focus towards the future, this organization will certainly look a bit different. With Bill Belichick being a defensive-minded coach, the unit should figure to be in top shape.
