How confident are we that Dwayne Haskins will be the starting quarterback for the Washington Redskins at the start of the 2021 season?
We saw a small sample size of what he could do in his rookie season during 2019, and there is some hope that he can improve on that in 2020 with a new system and some more experience under his belt. However, will it be enough to win over the coaching staff and fanbase of the franchise at large, and give him enough reigns to lead the team for years to come?
Our friends over at USA TODAY’s Draft Wire don’t seem to think so, as they have the Redskins selecting Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft in their latest mock.
It may be a bit unfair to cast Haskins off after such a short sample size and few pieces around him, but the truth of the matter is that if the Redskins are in a position to pick first overall in next year’s draft, it’s likely because Haskins was unable to take that next step as an NFL quarterback.
If you choose to look on the bright side, it seems to be fair to think that the Redskins will have a solid franchise QB in 2021 and beyond, whether it’s Haskins or Lawrence.
