The Miami Dolphins were able to transcend expectations in 2019 on their way to a 5-11 season — allowing the team to carry momentum into the new decade. Along with the new season come new expectations for Miami — but what would overachieving look like this year as compared to the 2019 campaign?
The latest BetMGM betting odds have the Dolphins favored to win between 5-8 games this upcoming season — offering -304 odds for the team land somewhere in that range by the end of the 2020 season. A winning record would certainly be considered a surprise; although it shouldn’t necessarily be considered outside the realm of possibility. The odds seem to indicate Miami’s most likely win total this season will be 6 wins — a slight improvement from the 5-11 record the team posted last season.
If the Dolphins indeed “overachieve” and surpass that number, fans of the team should be thrilled by the progress. Keeping an even keeled approach to Miami’s growth, development and improvements is going to be a challenge after a 5-4 stretch to finish the 2019 season, but it is necessary. As the saying goes, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Neither will this Dolphins’ roster. But, at the very least, the odds seem to set a low bar for Miami — one that is easily achievable and sets the Dolphins up to once again be overachievers in the eyes of the bettors.
