While there’s been speculation about Kevin Durant’s return for 2019-20 — which he squashed on Friday — there has also been room to question whether or not Kyrie Irving would be back on the floor for the Brooklyn Nets when the NBA resumes play.
Though, unlike Durant — who was toward the end of his rehab process — Irving is still in the middle of his recovery from right shoulder surgery, which he had in early March. The Nets point guard had already been ruled out for the year and he was expected to be ready to go around the start of the 2020-21 season.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Irving expects to make the trip to Orlando with the Nets when the league resumes play in late July. However, Irving will not play, with Woj reporting:
Kyrie Irving suggested on the NBPA conference call today that it’s possible he could join the Nets in Orlando this summer — as an inactive player supporting his teammates.
